We need addiction treatment beds ASAP!
Photo shows the Homeless Solidarity Committee, Boston Warm and PPUF at a meeting with Health and Human Service Sec. Mary Lou Sudders. We asked for a meeting in order to communicate our sense of urgency around replacing the addiction treatment beds lost when Long Island Shelter was closed. Also particating, were parents who lost their sons and daughters to addiction relapse after the closing. Sec Sudders listened well and reported about the efforts that are underway to get 70 more beds by January of 2016. The group will keep an eye on the timeline as addiction is claiming lives.
